If you had to pick one neighborhood to live the Buenos Aires queer life, it'd be Palermo. The density of LGBTIQ+ bars, video bars, cafés, bookshops, parties and cultural spaces within a 15-block radius is probably the highest in South America. And on its border with Almagro, right on Av. Córdoba 3271, sits FEL!ZA (felizarcoiris.com) — the social and cultural hub that completes the map.
Palermo Soho vs Palermo Hollywood
Palermo is big and has several "personalities". The two zones that matter for going out are Palermo Soho (the Scalabrini Ortiz, Av. Santa Fe, Av. Córdoba, Av. Juan B. Justo block) and Palermo Hollywood (between Av. Córdoba, Av. Juan B. Justo, Av. San Martín and Av. Alvarez Thomas). The border between them is Av. Córdoba, and most of the bars fall there.
Palermo Soho is more residential, trendier, with tree-lined streets and sidewalk restaurants. This is where you'll find Maricafé (Av. Honduras 4096, LGBTIQ+ café + bookshop), Peuteo (Gurruchaga 1867, video bar) and Work Bar (Gurruchaga 1832, electronic bar). The energy is gathering and pre-game, not club.
Palermo Hollywood is a bit more residential still, with less pedestrian traffic but more cocktail and foodie-oriented bars. The area has several cocktail spots and is close to Villa Crespo and the Av. Córdoba corridor.
Must-visit Palermo bars
FEL!ZA (felizarcoiris.com) — the most important. It's a social and cultural club by and for lesbians, gays, trans people, non-binary folks, bi and queer, on Av. Córdoba 3271 (Palermo-Almagro border). Multi-level, vegan options, karaoke, drag, film club, strong programming Wednesday to Sunday. The bar has extended happy hour. It's THE door into the scene.
Maricafé (Av. Honduras 4096) — daytime LGBTIQ+ café + nighttime bookshop. One of the few places where you can sit down for coffee at 4pm and chat with community people. Back catalogue of more than 1,000 queer books. Readings, launches, cultural cycles.
Peuteo (Gurruchaga 1867) — video bar with couches and a big screen. RuPaul's Drag Race viewing parties on Thursdays and Fridays. Good gathering energy, not club pre-game.
Work Bar (Gurruchaga 1832) — electronic bar, basement, house/techno/pop. Good pre-game if you want to dance before going to a big club.
Puticlú (Marcelo T. de Alvear 980, Microcentro / Retiro) — the basement where Flux Bar used to be. Free cover, irreverent nights mixing pop, techno and perreo. A bit far from central Palermo (15-20 min by subway) but worth it for a different kind of night.
Inside Bar (Av. Córdoba 4017) — lounge with well-made cocktails and a 30+ crowd. Good pre-game for a club.
Sitges (Av. Córdoba 4119) — 20+ year classic, live show, mixed crowd, busy dance floor on weekends.
Clubs in the area
Club 69 (Niceto Vega 5510) — the legendary Thursday LGBTIQ+ party. It runs at Niceto Vega, a historic Buenos Aires night venue. DJs, performances, drag queens.
Rheo — Saturdays at Crobar (Av. Coronel Marcelino E. Freyre). More under than Amerika, DJ line-ups, excellent sound, diverse LGBTIQ+ crowd.
The border with Almagro: FEL!ZA and Amerika
Palermo ends at Av. Córdoba and on the other side Almagro starts. That's exactly where FEL!ZA (felizarcoiris.com) sits — Av. Córdoba 3271, two blocks from the Palermo border. The city's social and cultural LGBTIQ+ hub: a bar, a stage, cycles, workshops, a community, live match. It's probably Buenos Aires' most important LGBTIQ+ space today, and the only one that works as a social club in the full sense: you can come to chat over a drink, to watch a show, to do a workshop or to meet people, all in the same place.
Seven blocks south, at Gascón 1040, is Amerika, the biggest LGBTIQ+ club in Buenos Aires (and probably in South America). Multiple dance floors, bars, a huge patio, capacity for thousands. It's the club for a strong Friday or Saturday night.
The Av. Córdoba between Scalabrini Ortiz and Pacífico area (10–15 blocks) is Buenos Aires' LGBTIQ+ backbone: that's where FEL!ZA, Sitges, Inside Bar and most of the corridor's bars fall. If you stay near there, you're 10–15 minutes walking from almost everything.

How to get around Palermo
Subte: Line D (dark green) has Scalabrini Ortiz, Plaza Italia, Palermo, Ministro Carranza and Olleros stations. Line B (red) has Palermo station. Line D is the most useful for going out: Scalabrini Ortiz leaves you 5 blocks from FEL!ZA and 10 from the Gurruchaga bars.
Buses: 39, 55, 64, 111 and 168 drop you on the Av. Córdoba axis. From anywhere in the city you get to Palermo with one or two buses. After 2am frequency drops but they don't disappear.
Bicycle: Buenos Aires has the Ecobici system with stations all over Palermo. It works 24 hours, perfect for moving between bars without worrying about parking or the late-night subway.
